Police identify victim, suspects in alleged murder
Richard Antjuan Ezell, 22, of Laytonville; Charles Kimbrough, 26, of Hercules; and Christopher Donaldson Jr., 22, of Alameda, are all facing charges of murder, robbery and possession of marijuana for sale in connection with the shooting death of William Sapp, 32, of Oakland.
Police told The Ukiah Daily Journal that the suspects had the victim meet them at the apartment complex regarding “interaction they had over the last few days.” They said the case was a robbery gone bad and that marijuana may have been involved, but didn’t comment further.
Police responded to calls alerting them to a disturbance on the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue at 11:51 a.m. Wednesday and found Sapp shot to death on the complex’s grounds. Kimbrough was arrested near the area where Sapp was found 15 minutes later. Ezell and Donaldson were arrested after 3 p.m. the same day at the Islander Motel on Central Avenue.
All three are being held without bail at Glenn Dyer Jail in Oakland. Ezell and Donaldson are also facing charges of providing false identification to police; Donaldson is also being held on drug and firearm charges stemming from a 2009 arrest in Maricopa County, while Ezell is facing a charge he violated his probation.
