Monday, March 21


GRAND THEFT: Police are investigating the theft of copper wire from a business on the 400 block of Grand Street, they said.

GRAND THEFT: Police arrested Mariche Jesus Gutierrez, 29, of Oakland on suspicion of grand theft for allegedly stealing a laptop computer from Abbott Diabetes Care on 1300 South Loop Road, where authorities said he was employed.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT: A resident of the 2500 block of Crist Street found her side gate unlocked and open approximately a week after a theft from her yard, police said.

GRAND THEFT: Police are investigating the theft of a backhoe from a yard on the 2200 block of Clement Avenue.

ATTEMPTED AUTO THEFT: An unknown person or persons attempted to steal an automobile from the 2200 block of South Shore Center, police said.

Stolen vehicles: Silver 1984 Mazda, between 9 p.m. March 20 and 4 a.m. today, from the 800 block of Pacific Avenue.

Stolen bicycle: Girls’ Trek seven speed and boys’ Schwinn one speed, between 8:30 a.m. March 18 and 6 p.m. March 20, from the 2200 block of Encinal Avenue.


Tuesday, March 22


COMPUTER FRAUD: Police said an unknown person accessed an Alameda resident’s e-mail account without permission and sent unauthorized messages.

GRAND THEFT: Police are investigating the theft of copper wire from an underground electrical pull box on the 200 block of Central Avenue.

COMPUTER FRAUD: An individual altered a person’s e-mail and Facebook accounts in an attempt to fraudulently acquire funds, police said.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Police are investigating an alleged illegal entry attempt at a residence on the 1900 block of Central Avenue.

ROBBERY: Police are investigating an individual’s claim that she was robbed at knife point on the 1100 block of Santa Clara Street.

FORGERY: An individual entered Chase Bank on the 2200 block of Otis Drive and attempted to pass a fraudulent check, authorities said.

Stolen vehicle: Gray 1995 Honda Civic, between 11 p.m. March 21 and 2 a.m. today, from the 2200 block of Pacific Avenue.


Wednesday, March 23


BURGLARY GARAGE: An unknown suspect or suspects forced open a locked garage door an stole an unsecured bike on the 3200 block of Fairview Avenue, authorities said.

FRAUD: A suspect defrauded an Alameda resident of an iPod touch via the Internet, police said.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY ARREST: Police arrested Margaret Katherine Hendrix, 56, of Alameda, and Londo Sterling James, 42, of Oakland, on suspicion of burglary after the pair allegedly stole lead line from a vacant warehouse on the 300 block of A Avenue.

Stolen vehicle: Gray 2006 GMC Denali, between 4:30 p.m. March 22 and 6 a.m. today, from the 100 block of Seabridge Court.


Thursday, March 24


COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: A suspect forced entry into a snack shack at Chuck Corica Golf Complex and stole items, police said.

STALKING: An individual reported a suspect allegedly stalking her, police said.

STATUTORY RAPE: Police are investigating an alleged statutory rape, authorities said.

GRAND THEFT: Authorities are investigating an alleged theft of items by guests at a party on the 300 block of Broadway.

IDENTITY THEFT: An individual used an Alameda resident’s identity to obtain a tax return, police said.

ROBBERY: An armed male suspect robbed a couple returning home with money from their business in Oakland, police said. According to authorities, the alleged robbery occurred on the doorstep of the couple’s home on the 400 block of Santa Clara Avenue.


Friday, March 25


GRAND THEFT: An unknown suspect or suspects stole underground copper wire from a city-owned property at Island Drive and Doolittle Drive, police said.

INDECENT EXPOSURE ARREST: Police arrested Jesse Howard James, 40, of Oakland, on suspicion that he masturbated in public in front of another individual. James, who was arrested on the 2500 block of Eagle Avenue, also faces a charge of being under the influence of narcotics.

SHOPLIFTING AND COURT-ORDER VIOLATION ARREST: Police arrested Valerie Ann Ray, 49, of Alameda on charges of petty theft, violating probation, and violating a court order after she allegedly stole items from Kohl’s at Alameda Towne Centre. Authorities said Ray has previously been arrested at the store and is subject to a stay-away order. She was also booked for providing false identification to a police officer, police said.

Stolen vehicle: White 1992 Mazda Miata, between 7 a.m. March 24 and 6:30 p.m. today, from the area of Mecartney Road and Baywalk Road.

Stolen bicycle: Purple girls’ Schwinn, between 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. March 21, from the 1500 block of Chestnut Street.


Saturday, March 26


COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: A suspect broke into Wally’s Corner on the 1600 block of Webster Street and stole money from the ATM, police said.

BURGLARIES: Police are investigating thefts at Public Storage on the 1800 block of Webster Street. The incidents, on March 25 and today, are the most recent in a string of thefts from the facility.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: An unknown suspect stole money from Domino’s Pizza on the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue, police said.

BURGLARY: An unknown person or persons stole a speaker box from an unlocked storage unit on the 1800 block of Sherman Street.

INDECENT EXPOSURE: Police are searching for a man who allegedly exposed his penis to another individual on the 2000 block of Harbor Bay Parkway. The incident does not appear related to the week’s similar incidents, authorities said.


Sunday, March 27


SEX OFFENSE: Police are investigating a suspect in for least one sexual assault that began with solicitation via the Internet, authorities said.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: An unknown suspect or suspect entered Scooter Importer on the 1800 block of Park Street and stole an all-terrain vehicle, police said.

BURGLARY: Authorities said an unknown person or persons entered a storage room on the 2200 block of Encinal Avenue and stole a commercial washer and drier.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY: Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly tried to rob an individual on the 2900 block of Marina Drive with a black plastic gun.

INDECENT EXPOSURE: An individual allegedly exposed his genitalia in public on Verdemar Drive, authorities said. Police said the incident does not appear related to the week’s similar incidents, authorities said.

STOLEN DOG: Police are searching for the individual who stole a dog, described as a one-year-old, 65-pound pit bull-Labrador mix, from the the front yard of a residence on the 600 block of Santa Clara Avenue. The dog’s owner was home when the unknown suspect or suspects opened the front gate to the residence and took the dog, authorities said.

BATTERY: A man and a woman placed each other under citizen’s arrest for misdemeanor battery after a physical altercation, police said.

Stolen bicycle: Blue Genesis 2100, between 10:30 p.m. March 26 and 2 p.m. today, from the 900 block of Shorepoint Court.
