Alameda firefighters douse Clinton Avenue fire
Alameda firefighters quickly extinguished an apartment fire on the 2100 block of Clinton Avenue. They said they’re investigating the cause of the blaze, which displaced one resident and caused an estimated $13,500 in building and content damage.
Division Chief Ricci Zombeck said the resident of the apartment reported the fire at 7:52 p.m. Tuesday. “He came home to find smoke and called us,” Zombeck said.
Zombeck said firefighters doused the blaze in 15 minutes and that no one was injured in the fire. He said Oakland firefighters covered Alameda’s stations while Alameda firefighters fought the one-alarm fire, which started in the living room of the second-floor unit and also caused some smoke damage to a common hallway.
Zombeck said the resident of the apartment who was displaced is staying with friends, though the Red Cross did provide support.
