Your weekend: Dark & Delicious
This Friday marks the latest annual outing of P.S. I Love You’s Dark & Delicious food and wine event, a festive homage to Petite Syrah. This year’s event, which comes on the varietal’s 50th birthday, will feature wines from 40 producers and food from 30 Bay Area restaurants and caterers.
Tickets for the 21-and-over event, which begins at 6 p.m. Friday, are $63 and are available online or at the door (and there’s a $10 discount if you order tickets online for parties of eight or more). The event is being held at Rock Wall Wine Company, 2301 Monarch Street.
P.S. I Love You was founded in October 2002 to showcase the varietal, which it says is produced by 755 wineries, most of them selling 50 cases of their stuff or less. The event has been sponsored by the National Pork Board since 2007 and held at Rock Wall since 2009 (patrons at last year’s event packed Rock Wall’s huge hangar space).
Participating restaurants include local hangouts Angela’s Bistro, Asena, The Hobnob, Pappo and Tomatina; Oakland’s Miss Pearl’s Jam House; Izzy’s Steaks and Chops; and Marin French Cheese. Kara’s Cupcakes, Danville Chocolates and Bert’s Desserts will be on hand to soothe your sweet tooth.
Wineries at the event will include mass-market brands like Bogle and familiar names like Field Stone and Trentadue alongside locals like Rock Wall, John Robert Eppler Wines and R&B Cellars. Complete food and wine vendor lists are available online.
