The Island is 3!
Today is a special day here at The Island: It’s our third birthday. (We’ll try our best not act out.) For the past three years we have had the privilege of telling the story of Alameda, an opportunity we look forward to continuing to enjoy.
Last year was an amazing one for us. We brought on a veritable slew of new reporters and columnists, which allowed us to broaden the coverage we can offer. And you and others noticed. The Island’s audience has grown to about 10,000 readers a month. And we’ve won honors from the Peninsula Press Club, which named us best independent news site, and from Alameda Magazine which named us top blogger.
And this year, we think, is on track to be even better. Already we’ve introduced a host of new regular features and columns, including our biweekly Alameda Business Focus, monthly restaurant reviews, in-depth news stories, and our brand-new Point Being and Breakdown columns on Alameda Point cleanup efforts and building issues. And there’s more to come, so stay tuned.
As always, we thank you for your support, and we welcome your comments and suggestions. If you’ve got a comment or suggestion, feel free to leave it here; or drop me a line, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
