Monday, January 10


FRAUD: Police said an individual used a fraudulent online listing to trick an Alameda resident into sending money via Western Union. The victim believed the money was going toward the purchase of a car, authorities said.

Stolen vehicles: Green 1993 Saturn, between 4:50 p.m. January 9 and 6:30 p.m. today, from the 1600 block of Gould Court.

Blue 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, between 7:45 a.m. and 7:38 p.m., from a secured garage on the 300 block of Westline Drive.


Tuesday, January 11


GRAND THEFT: An unknown suspect or suspects stole a storage container from the 300 block of Westline Drive, authorities said.

POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY ARREST: Police arrested a 48-year-old man at his Hayward residence on a charge of possession of stolen property. Authorities declined to elaborate on the nature of the stolen property, as similar investigations are ongoing.

Stolen vehicle: Red 1998 Honda Civic, between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., from the area of San Jose Avenue and Walnut Street. The car was later recovered a short distance away, police said.

Stolen bicycles: Black Eastern BMX, between 8 a.m. and noon, from Encinal High School at 210 Central Avenue.

Black Giant one-speed, between 8 a.m. and 3:05 p.m., also from Encinal High School at 210 Central Avenue.


Wednesday, January 12


RACCOON ATTACK: Police said a dog on the 1200 block of Pacific Avenue fought with a raccoon that came into a home through a dog door. It was the most recent in a string of raccoon attacks, including a similar December incident involving raccoons entering a residence through a pet door.

MARIJUANA GROW HOUSE: Police searched a suspected grow house on the 1000 block of Tahiti Lane and seized marijuana, marijuana cultivating equipment, cannabis indica, and computers, authorities said.

MARIJUANA FOR SALE: Police arrested Angel Daniel Rios, 23, of Oakland and Erik Rodriguez, 19, of Hayward on charges of possession of marijuana packaged for sale. Rodriguez faces a second charge of driving with a suspended license, police said.

Stolen vehicle: Gray 2010 Honda Civic, between 8:30 p.m. January 11 and 9:10 a.m. today, from the 300 block of Central Avenue.


Thursday, January 13


WEAPON ARREST: Police arrested Jonathan Macasu Gatmaitan, 39, of Alameda on a charge of unlawful carrying and possession after Gatmaitan was found in possession of a concealed dagger, authorities said.

POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY ARREST: Police arrested Alameda resident Joshua Dante Martinelli, 29, on a charge of possession of stolen property. Martinelli faces an additional charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and also was found to have an outstanding felony warrant, authorities said.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: An unknown suspect or suspects cut the padlocks off of two storage lockers at Public Storage and took items, police said. According to authorities, the incident is the most recent in a rash of burglaries at the facility.

AUTO THEFT ARREST: Police arrested Alameda resident Richard Jorge Reynoso, 30, on charges of auto theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of burglary tools. Officers stopped Reynoso for a traffic violation and discovered him to be in possession of a stolen vehicle with two mismatched, stolen license plates, authorities said. Reynoso faces additional charges of narcotics possession, violating parole, and driving on a suspended license, police said.

Stolen vehicle: Maroon 1990 Toyota Camry, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., from the 1400 block of Park Avenue.


Friday, January 14


BATTERY: An individual punched another individual in the nose at or outside the Churchward Pub on Park Street, police said.

MARIJUANA AND HASHISH FOR SALE ARREST: Police arrested Alameda resident Daniel M. Stephens, 20, on charges of possessing marijuana and hashish for sale. Officers also charged an associate of Stephens with possession of marijuana.

SEXUAL BATTERY: Police are investigating an allegation of sexual battery against a physician. The alleged victim said the suspect put his mouth on her left breast and nipple during an examination, authorities said.

GRAND THEFT FROM BOAT: An unknown suspect or suspects stole an engine from a boat on the 1200 block of Pacific Marina, police said.

VIOLATION OF COURT ORDER: Police said an individual violated a restraining order by coming to a protected person’s apartment, kicking in the door, and smashing a window.

BAD CHECKS: A suspect cashed a fraudulent check at EZ Liquors 2 on the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue, police said.

ANNOYING OR MOLESTING A CHILD UNDER 18: A registered sex offender contacted a 15-year-old victim in an attempt to get her to go on a date with him, police said.

PETTY THEFT ARREST: Police arrested Clayton Wayne Plummer, 27, of Brentwood on a charge of misdemeanor petty theft after Plummer allegedly stole copper wire from a building, authorities said.

Stolen bicycle: White Columbia Northway, between 8 a.m. January 6 and 10 a.m. January 11, from the 2100 block of Otis Drive.


Saturday, January 15


PURSE THEFT: Police said a suspect or suspects stole a purse from a shopping basket at Safeway.

ACCIDENT AND ARREST: Police arrested Maria Feliz Zempoalteca, 41, of Oakland on a charge of driving without a license after a collision at Alameda Towne Centre. The collision caused “significant” damage, authorities said.

FAILURE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER: Police arrested Edward Ray Burns, 38, address unknown, on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender, authorities said. Burns faces an additional public intoxication charge.

NARCOTICS FOR SALE ARREST: Police arrested a 15-year-old juvenile for possessing narcotics for sale after the juvenile was found to have suspected ecstasy, cash, and a cell phone, authorities said.

Stolen vehicles: White 2003 Volkswagen Passat, between 9 p.m. January 14 and 2:15 a.m. today, from the 1400 block of Oak Street.

Black 1987 Chevy Blazer, between 1:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. January 13, from the zero block of Maitland Drive. The vehicle was later recovered in Oakland, police said.


Sunday, January 16


BURGLARY: An unknown suspect or suspects burglarized the storage shed of the Alameda Point Collaborative community garden on the 2500 block of Pensacola Road, police said.

GRAND THEFT FROM PERSON: Police said an individual took a purse from another individual on the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue and fled the area with the loss.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: An unknown suspect or suspects cut the window screens to a residence on the 2200 block of Santa Clara Avenue, authorities said.

Stolen bicycle: Silver Giant, between 8 p.m. January 15 and 10:30 a.m. today, from a porch on the 2400 block of Webb Avenue.
