The Kiwanis Club of Alameda is hosting its 12th annual Chili Cook-Off and Barbecue Dinner this Saturday, January 29 at the Albert H. DeWitt Officers Club. The night’s festivities include a chili tasting and barbecue dinner, dancing and a silent auction. The club is also hosting a raffle, and two winners will receive iPads.

Tickets for the event, the Kiwanis Club’s major annual fundraiser, are $50 for adults and $25 for children ages 4-12, and are available on the club’s website. Raffle tickets are $1 each, $10 for 11 or $20 for 25, and are also available online.

The event takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and The O’Club is at 641 West Redline Avenue.

Back Forty Texas BBQ will provide the all-you-can-eat dinner (including veggie burgers), and a no-host bar will be offered. Chili contest entries will be tasted and judged by both attendees and professional chefs.

Entertainment includes a DJ and dancing (Western attire is welcomed), and a Kiddie Corral with games and more will be offered for kids ages 3-7.

The event is sponsored by La Penca Azul; Dave Hewitt; Hewitt, Jones & Fitch; Edward Jones’ Dominic McKenna; Harbor Bay Realty;  Sports and Fitness Club; and Nob Hill Foods.
