Firefighters douse early morning fire
Alameda firefighters put out an early morning home fire Wednesday that caused an estimated $400,000 worth of damage. No one was injured in the blaze.
Alameda Fire Department Division Chief Rick Zombeck said the fire was reported at 1:17 a.m. Wednesday in a home on the 1800 block of Alameda Avenue. Firefighters believe the blaze began in the kitchen, but they’re still investigating its cause.
Zombeck said it took firefighters 70 minutes to completely extinguish the one-alarm blaze. He said no one was living in the home because it had recently sold and the new owners hadn’t moved in yet.
Property records showed the 115-year-old, 2,516-square-foot home sold in December.
