It’s New Year’s Eve in Alameda, and … ain’t we got fun! If you’re looking to celebrate close to home, here’s what’s going on.

The Alameda Theatre & Cineplex is hosting its second annual Vegas New Year’s Eve with the Rat Pack on Friday night. The 21-and-over event starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $125 or $225 per couple, and they’ll grant you access to the theater’s casino, a performance by The Rat Pack Summit and Oz Ramsey’s 17-piece Bay Area big band, two beer and wine tickets, gourmet appetizers, dancing, party favors, a silent auction, raffle prizes and more. (They’ll also have a designated driver limo service available on a first-come, first-served basis.) The event is a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Alameda’s construction fund. Tickets are available online or at the theater box office, which is at 2317 Central Avenue.

Another big event: Rhythmix Cultural Works is hosting a Big Fat Year End Kiss Off Comedy Show (XVIII!) featuring five-time Emmy nominee Will Durst, Debi Durst, Johnny Steele, Michael Bossier and Mari Magaloni. Tickets are $25 for the 7 p.m. show and $35 for the 10 p.m. show, with the latter ticket buying also a glass of champagne and a balloon drop. Tickets are available online. Rhythmix is at 2513 Blanding Avenue, and their phone number is 865-5060.

The Churchward Pub is hosting a New Year’s Eve party with a roaring ’20s theme; they’re asking celebrants to dust off their vintage ’20s and ’30s clothing for the event. The event includes music spun by DJ Alex Mejia and DJ Riktor, plus an open bar and food from Bonnie’ BBQ (which the Churchwards also own). Tickets are $100. For more information or tickets, check out the pub’s website or call 521-4800. The pub is at 1515 Park Street.

Speisekammer Restaurant is also hosting a New Year’s Eve party, featuring live music from The Frisky Frolics. They’ll serve dinner until 10 p.m. and appetizers until 11. They’re promising a disco ball, dancing, fun and frivolity. Speisekammer is at 2424 Lincoln Avenue, and their phone number is 522-1300.

If dinner’s the thing for you, Pappo Restaurant is hosting a New Year’s Eve dinner, and chef John Thiel says there’s a few seats left. Dinner is $67 a person, and you can add wine pairings for another $23. The menu is on Pappo’s website (scroll down and click “Special Events” for the download), and you can call 337-9100 to make a reservation. The restaurant is across the street from the theater, at 2320 Central Avenue.

Also, C’era Una Volta is offering early seatings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a 9 p.m. dinner with live music from the Jim Franz and Jan Nichols band, dancing and a midnight party; call 769-4828 for details. They’re at 1332 Park Street.

And if you simply want a nice glass of champagne, Alameda Wine Company is offering flights all day and evening. They’ll have special cheese and charcuterie plates to pair with the bubblies. Alameda Wine Company is at 2315 Central Avenue; call 523-9463 for more information.
