Police are looking into the apparent theft of a car belonging to a woman who was struck by a vehicle on Park Street in September.

Police said the 64-year-old woman’s family believes that sometime between September 23 and November 11, someone stole her white 1989 Nissan Sentra from the 2500 block of Central Avenue as she recovered in a rehabilitation facility. Alameda Police Lt. Sean Lynch said the woman’s family members realized the car was gone and that no one in the family had moved it, and they reported the apparent theft to police on December 8.

The woman, whose name was not released by police, was hit by a car on September 24 as she crossed Park Street in a crosswalk near Santa Clara Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was not charged in the accident, Lynch said, and he said the woman is still in a facility recovering from her injuries.
