Paper tickets to be a thing of the past for AC Transit
AC Transit is reminding riders that December 31 will be the last day they can use paper tickets on the bus service. After that date, riders who have used 10-ride paper tickets or 31-day passes must switch to an electronic Clipper card.
December is the last month the bus service will offer adult 31-day paper tickets, and December 31 is the last day drivers will accept 10-day adult and 10-day youth/senior/disabled passes. The service is urging riders to use up as many of their 10-ride tickets as they can and to switch to a Clipper card.
Riders who have leftover tickets can exchange them by mail or in-person at AC Transit’s offices, at 1600 Franklin Street in Oakland.
The electronic cards may be used on AC Transit, BART, San Francisco’s MUNI bus system, SamTrans, CalTrain and the Golden Gate Ferry. More information about the cards, including where transit riders can obtain them, is available on the Clipper website.
Meanwhile, the bus service will be operating its regular schedule on New Year’s Eve, and will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day.
