Gingerbread maker extraordinaire Donna Eyestone has turned out another great piece for the holiday season: a gingerbread version of the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex.

The theater-in-gingerbread will be on display in the lobby of the theater.

“If you bring your children – they’ll be sure to notice the lights under the overhang, and Santa with his reindeer just heading out to another delivery,” Eyestone said of her latest creation.

Eyestone and her daughter, Emma (pictured), made a cardboard template of the building before constructing a gingerbread version. She said they considered showing a film on an iPhone inside the structure but weren’t sure if they could secure it, so Emma painted a picture instead that’s visible inside.

You may remember that last year, the Eyestones made a gingerbread version of the Alameda Free Library, and it was such a hit, Donna Eyestone said, that they decided to move forward on other landmark Alameda structures.

The gingerbread theater will be on display until the day before Christmas, when Eyestone will take it home for her own Christmas Day table.
