Monday, September 27

BURGLARY ARREST: Police have arrested two people in connection with a burglary on the 1300 block of Versailles Street on Monday. Police arrested Jahnell Lydell Sykes, 19, of Alameda and Brian Keith Drivers Jr., 21, also of Alameda, on burglary and 664. Police said Drivers dropped a backpack while walking away from the scene of the residential burglary and that he was placed under arrest for littering. Police said he lacked proper identification and was transported to the police department for booking. They said he admitted to planning the burglary with Lydell and that he acted as a lookout on the burglary attempt. Police said they stopped Lydell on the 1300 block of Pearl Street and that a witness positively identified him as one of the people responsible. Lydell was also transported to the Alameda City Jail for booking.

DEPENDENT ADULT ABUSE: Police are looking for two suspects who, they said, took a woman to the bank in order to have them withdraw money for them. Police did not release suspect details, but the case is pending.

Stolen bicycles: Schwinn Beach Cruiser, between 3 p.m. an 11 p.m. September 26, from the 1500 block of Verdi Street.

Tuesday, September 28

BATTERY ARREST: Michael David Descovich, 20, of Alameda, was arrested on an assault charge. Police said Descovich grabbed the victim’s arm and twisted it after getting into a verbal dispute with her. The victim placed Descovich under citizen’s arrest and police transported him to Alameda City Jail.

CRIMINAL THREATS: Police are investigating a case in which they said a suspect wrote on his MySpace account that he is going to end the lives of a local woman and her daughters. The threats are alleged to have been posted on September 8.

GRAND THEFT: Police are investigating the alleged theft of $2,035 worth of clothing from a vehicle. Police said that the items went missing sometime between 7 p.m. September 27 and 7:30 a.m. today from the vehicle, which was parked on the 1300 block of Court Street.

GRAND THEFT: Police are investigating the alleged theft of $1,250 worth of items from a vehicle parked on the 1700 block of Cambridge Drive. Police said that sometime between 12:01 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. today, items that included stereo equipment, glasses and sunglasses were removed from the vehicle.

ARSON: Police are looking for the suspect or suspects who, they said, set fire to trash cans inside three occupied apartment buildings, filling the hallways with smoke. Police said the alleged arson took place between 11:48 p.m. and 11:53 p.m. on the 400 block of Buena Vista Avenue.

Stolen vehicles: White 1998 Acura Integra two-door, between 12:01 a.m. and 8 a.m. today, from the 1400 block of Bay Street.

Stolen bicycles: Republic Aristotle, between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. September 24, from the 2100 block of Buena Vista Avenue.

STOLEN VEHICLE ARREST: Police arrested Lynsey May Hartsinck, 25, of Dublin, and Shonette Lynn West, 39, of Castro Valley, on charges of possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and driving a stolen vehicle. Police said they arrested Hartsinck and West on the 1900 block of Webster Street after discovering the vehicle they were driving was stolen and that Hartsinck had a suspended license. Police said they found stolen license plates and burglary tools in the vehicle and that she provided police with a false name. They were arrested at 1:32 a.m. and booked into Alameda City Jail.

BRANDISHING: Police arrested Rose Ann Hoffman, 35, address not given, on battery and brandishing charges. Police said Hoffman pushed a male victim during a disturbance on the 2100 block of Pacific Avenue, then brandished a kitchen knife at him in a threatening manner.

BURGLARY: Police said a suspect entered a home on the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue while the victim was in the shower. Police said that when the victim came out of the shower he noticed his side door was open, but nothing appeared to have been taken.

BATTERY: Police said a white male suspect punched a victim to the ground and kicked him after the victim accidentally stepped on the suspect’s foot. Police said the alleged battery happened on the 500 block of Central Avenue sometime between noon and 12:30 p.m.

BURGLARY: Police said someone broke into an apartment on the 1600 block of Willow Street and took a video game console and two laptop computers. Police said the alleged burglary took place between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

BURGLARY: Police are looking for two suspects who they believe burglarized a home on the 1800 block of Chapin Street. Police said the suspects entered the home through an open window sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Stolen vehicles: Maroon 1991 Toyota Camry four-door, between 10:30 p.m. September 28 and 2:30 p.m. today, from the 1300 block of Regent Street.

Stolen bicycles: Diamond bicycle, between 5:50 p.m. and 5:52 p.m., from the 2200 block of Shoreline Drive.

Thursday, September 30

GRAND THEFT: Police are investigating the alleged theft of $1,250 worth of stereo equipment from a vehicle parked on the 500 block of Pacific Avenue.

PEEPING TOM: Police said they are looking for two suspects in a prowling and peeping case. Police said the victim confronted one of the white male suspects when she saw him standing in her back yard on the 3300 block of Washington Court, shortly after 1 p.m.

Friday, October 1

BRANDISHING: Police were called at 12:08 p.m. after a victim said a suspect brandished a pocket knife at them in a threatening manner during an argument that occurred on the 800 block of Island Drive.

ARSON: Police said they were called at 5:13 p.m. an unknown person set a school planter on fire at Encinal High School, damaging the school’s landscaping.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Police said someone entered an apartment on the 3100 block of Washington Street and took property. Police did not say what was taken.

BATTERY: Police arrested Timothy Michael Agront, 30, of Castro Valley, on a battery charge. Police said Agront hit the victim in the face multiple times during a physical altercation on the 2400 block of Mariner Square Drive.

Stolen vehicles: Red 2000 Mazda MPV, between 6 p.m. September 30 and 9 a.m. today, from the 1500 block of Union Street.

Saturday, October 2

Stolen vehicles: Blue 1993 Honda Civic, between 10:30 p.m. October 1 and 3 p.m. today, from the 2000 block of San Jose Avenue.

Stolen bicycles: Schwinn Varsity bicycle, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., from the corner of Yorkshire Road and Yorkshire Place.

Sunday, October 3

GRAND THEFT: Police said an unknown suspect stole jewelry from a victim’s shopping bag at 3000 Main Street. Police said they received a call about the alleged theft at 12:56 p.m.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Police are investigating the burglary of a storage room on the 3000 block of Marina Drive. Police did not say when the alleged burglary occurred or what was taken.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Police said an unknown suspect cut a window screen and removed a window shade of an apartment on the 3200 block of Briggs Street but left prior to entering. Police took another report from the same address from a victim who said a suspect had violated a restraining order.

Stolen vehicles: White 1993 Plymouth Voyager, between 11:30 p.m. October 2 and 3:25 a.m. today, from the 800 block of Oak Street.
