Homicide victim identified
“We have some ideas. We’re working on them as we speak,” Alameda Police Lt. Bill Scott said.
Scott said a man approached Franklin and that the two were having a conversation on the 700 block of Eagle Avenue, near Franklin’s apartment and a Jack in the Box restaurant on Webster Street, when the second man apparently shot Franklin. Scott said police found six shell casings and that Franklin was hit three times, all in the back. He said police don’t yet know what the men were talking about.
Scott said the suspect then fled in a vehicle with a group of other people, heading east on Eagle and then south on Constitution Way.
Police found Franklin suffering from multiple gunshot wounds as he lay in the 700 block of Eagle Avenue shortly before midnight Saturday. Paramedics transported him to Highland Hospital in Oakland, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
