Easel does it: Plein Air Paintout is this week
Painters will be popping up all over Alameda this week for Frank Bette Center for the Arts’ annual Plein Air Paintout. Some 40 painters will take advantage of the nice summer weather and the Island’s natural beauty and charm to create images to be offered at a juried show at Frank Bette in August.
In addition to the en plein air painting – that’s French for “out of doors” – the artists will participate in a “quick draw” event from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, from the Park Street Bridge to the Bay, with the paintings for that event going up for sale from noon to 6 p.m. in front of the Alameda Marketplace at Park Street and Buena Vista Avenue. They’ll also offer artist workshops (click here for a schedule and fees).
An exhibit and sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Alameda Towne Centre, corner of Park and Otis. And the juried show opens August 6 at Frank Bette.
