The Alameda Free Library has added a beginner’s book club to its stable of children’s book clubs. The new club is for kids in first through third grades and is held the third Monday of every month at 3:30 p.m.

The meetings last 45 minutes, and the program includes games, discussion and a light snack. Children joining in the club will be expected to have finished the selected title and be ready to participate when they attend. Copies of the assigned books will be available in the library’s boys and girls department.

The library also has an intermediate book club for students in third grade through fifth grade that meets at 3:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, and advanced book club for students in grades five through eight that meets at 3:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month.
