In a nail-biter of a championship game, the undefeated Peppers battled the Cyclones into extra innings, winning 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh when Carlin Shannon hit a single to drive Rowan Esquer home. Sarah McCarthy scored the Peppers’ other run in the bottom of the fifth. The Peppers played strong in a clutch situation, with Kaitlyn Ogata notably catching a tricky fly ball for an out, and Hailey Hayes catching a grounder at third and throwing to Megan Stiling at first for another flawless out. From the Cyclones: The 8U Carroll Construction Cyclones lost a very tough, extra inning, championship game 2-1 to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Emma Dillin knocked in the Cyclones’ run on a slashing ground ball driven up the middle. Olivia Low showed off her speed as she scorched the base paths from second base to home plate. Natalie Mesterhazy pitched a season-high three innings and speared a line drive while on the mound. Teammate Sophia Piamonte pitched three solid innings as well, and played heads-up defense, getting multiple outs at first base. Lefty Lauren Hubbs pumped up the offense as she beat out a grounder to first base in the later innings.

Law Offices of Paul F. Mahler Blue Dragons 7, Airport Appliance Galaxy 6
These two teams were battling it out for the championship win. With a tie game for both the first and second innings, a triple by Mira Piamonte in the first and double by Lily Walovich in the second were key hits. By the end of the third inning, the Galaxy came back hard, driving in four runs by Kacy Stoddard, Jemma Thorpe, Mira Piamonte and Bella Vick to bring the lead to 6-2. The Blue Dragons were not going to give up and again drove in four runs in the bottom of the fourth by Sarah Mahler, Ruby Siltanen, Savannah Mesterhazy and Helen Montell-Weiland. It was a tie ballgame again until the bottom of the fifth and one out. Ellie MacLean’s hit to first base drove in Elizabeth Noble from third to win the game for the Blue Dragons. It was tied at 6-6 the top of the fifth inning. Ruby Siltanen dominated the mound, striking out three batters. Elizabeth Noble got on base with a walk. Ellie MacLean was up. Noble stole second. MacLean slammed the ball, advancing Noble to third. Madison O’Connor drove the ball to second, sending Noble across the plate to take the championship.

Danish Interior/McDonald’s Central Pink Panthers 10, Salon Seven/McDonald’s Shoreline Junior Mints 5
Strong defensive plays by Danielle Moyal and Tara Toy kept the Mints scoreless in the first inning. Toy and Meida Tautalatasi both doubled in the first inning, helping the Panthers score four runs. Shannon Regan’s double in the second inning scored Moyal, Jackie Carlise and Jacky Smith. Back-to-back singles by Kennedy Hanson and Samantha Hugger and a double by Adia Tajima added to Panthers’ score to help the Panthers win the 12U/14U Championship game.
