Firefighters douse Central Avenue fire
Alameda firefighters are investigating the cause of a one-alarm fire on the 3200 block of Central Avenue on Monday.
No one was injured in the fire, which caused $50,000 worth of structural damage and $1,500 in damage to contents in the affected apartment building.
Alameda Fire Capt. Jim Colburn said the department got a call at 4:15 p.m. Monday, and he said when they arrived, they found the third floor back porch of the three-floor apartment building on fire. Colburn said firefighters were able to put out the fire within about 10 minutes.
“We got the fire knocked down pretty quick,” Colburn said.
Three engines, two ladder trucks, an ambulance and a duty chief responded to the late afternoon fire, Colburn said.
