Alameda police investigate shooting
Alameda police are investigating an early morning shooting in the vicinity of Second and Brush streets. Police said the victim, a 35-year-old man, is in serious but stable condition. The motive for the shooting is unknown.
Police said they got a call about gunshots fired at 2:03 a.m. today and that when they arrived on the scene, they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and head. Police said the victim, who was conscious and communicative when they found him, was transported to Highland Hospital in Oakland for treatment.
They said the suspect, who fled in an unknown vehicle, is known to the victim but did not detail the relationship. A suspect description was not yet released. They believe the weapon was a small-caliber handgun. The case is being investigated by the department’s violent crimes unit.
