Your weekend: A family af-fair
Okay, not a fair exactly, but the annual Park Street Spring Festival is this coming Saturday and Sunday, May 8 and 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Like the festivals before it, this year’s festival will offer the opportunity to stroll Park Street and check out an array of artisans’ handiwork, beer/wine/mimosa/shaved Hawaiian ice in hand, while enjoying live music (and after months of rain, some decent weather).
They’ll have a kids area too, complete with a pony ride and petting zoo, on Central at Santa Clara between Broadway and Grand, and that’ll be up and running at 11 each day.
If you opt to partake in National Bicycling Month, the folks at BikeAlameda will be offering free, secure valet bike parking over at the Wienerschnitzel at 1529 Park Street.
On that note, you can also get a free bike check and bike lessons from the Alameda Bicycle folks during Gear Up for Bike to Work Day, which is at noon Saturday at Alameda Towne Centre, at the corner of Park and Otis.
