Island sports: Spring soccer update
Alameda Soccer Club offers spring soccer to boys and girls from Under 6 co-ed to Under 19 teams making up a total of 49 teams. U8 and younger players practice once a week and have one game on Saturday or Sunday. U10 teams and older start to play teams from Piedmont, Rockridge, Oakland, Montclair as well as other Alameda teams.
The focus of spring soccer is to keep boys and girls active with recreational-style play where the final scores are not posted and the goal is to have fun. Practices and games are set so scheduling for weekends makes it easier for families to plan other activities to enjoy the warmer days of spring in the Bay Area. Games will be played through Memorial Day, followed by an optional tournament for those teams who want to play.
Registration for Alameda Islanders Select soccer is now open to those players who have been tried out and have been selected for the class III teams. Fall registration for class IV or recreational soccer will be open in mid-May. Please look for flyers at schools and also a notice here in The Island for updates on Alameda Soccer.
