Vote for Dan’s!

Submitted by on 1, April 8, 2010 – 4:50 am3 Comments

I got a nice note the other day from a reader letting me know that Dan’s Fresh Produce is in the running to be named the best place in the Bay Area for produce on SFGate’s BayList site. The site is doing its 2010 Best of the BayList contest, and Dan’s needs your vote.

So far, they’re way ahead of the next contestant – Oakland’s Market Hall – with 74 percent of the vote. (I voted for ’em.) Voting continues through May 29. So if you love the Central Avenue produce market, be sure to vote.

Meanwhile, I checked out the site to see what other local businesses are in the running, and it’s a pretty good list. (According to the site, some 10,000 local businesses are competing for a host of best-of titles; they’re nominated for the honors by consumers.) Alameda Theatre & Cineplex is up there for best indie theater, the West Alameda Farmers Market (listed as Alameda Farmers Market) is up for best farmers market, Forbidden Island is in there for cocktails, and a host of local restaurants are on the list. So if you have some favorite local businesses you’d like to see earn some recognition, click the link above and vote, vote, vote!

Dan’s is not only a great place for produce, but Dan himself is really good guy.

I love Dan’s. The quality of the produce is great and he is such a NICE guy. I mean really nice in a Jeff Cambra or Bill Sonneman you can’t help but like him kind of way. However the thing that impresses me the most is the constant improvement. He is upgrading and enhancing the visual and cleanliness of his spot all the time.

I should probably go by Forbidden Island this weekend and make sure they are my favorite.

Yes, Dan’s Fresh Produce really deserves the recognition. It’s my favorite place to shop for produce — it’s always good quality and fresh.

    Thanks for mentioning, Michele!
