Alameda Police said they believe a San Leandro man facing charges he sexually assaulted or battered four women may now be facing similar charges in a fifth case.
Police Lt. Bill Scott said a woman sitting in an Oakland courthouse gallery where Marc Clarence Stevenson, 43, was making an appearance told authorities there that she believed that Stevenson raped her in October 2009 on the 2400 block of Lexington Avenue at Alameda Point. She told courthouse deputies, who contacted Alameda police.
Scott said police are investigating the case for possible charges. Stevenson has been accused or rape or sexual battery in four other cases, Scott said, including two in Alameda and one in Oakland.
GRAND THEFT: Police are looking for a person who, they said, stole $500 in cash from his elderly mother while she slept. Police said the alleged crime occurred at 8 p.m. March 27 on the 100 block of Crolls Garden Court.
GRAND THEFT: Police are looking for the person who, they said, cashed a check for $1,852.50 without providing a promised new hearing aid for an elderly care home resident. Police said the victim’s daughter contacted a company in December 2009 regarding the hearing aid.
Stolen bicycles: White 1973 Peugot 21” with a Mixte frame and Campangold cranks and chain guard, between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. April 5, from the 2000 block of Encinal Avenue.
Wednesday, April 7
THEFT ARREST: Police arrested Jason Lee Ford, 36, no address, on petty theft and other charges. Police said they stopped Ford on the corner of Bartlett Avenue and Pioneer and that he was wanted for allegedly stealing from an unnamed store. Police said they also believed Ford to be under the influence of drugs. He was arrested at 2:50 a.m.
BATTERY: Police are looking for a man who, they said, battered two people in an early morning incident on the 1400 block of Park Street. Police said that between 2 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. on April 3, the suspect punched a woman in the chin, causing bruising and a chipped tooth, and then punched a second, male victim, causing him to fall and suffer a concussion. Police described the victim as an Hispanic or white male, age 24, 160 to 180 pounds, 5’6” to 5’8”.
Stolen autos: Red 1998 Acura Integra two-door, between 8 p.m. April 6 and 1 p.m. today, from the 2000 block of Franciscan Way.
Thursday, April 8
STOLEN RENTAL VEHICLES: Police are looking into the alleged theft of two rental cars from a local outfit. Police said that the manager at All Car Rentals reported that someone rented a silver 2002 Chrysler Town and Country van on February 24 and hadn’t returned it by today. The manager also told police that someone rented a gold 1998 Honda Accord four-door on March 19 and had not returned it by today.
STOLEN ANTIQUE: Police said that someone stole an antique silver centerpiece worth $4,000 from a Mozart Street resident. They said the antique silver Epergene centerpiece, which has three glass plates and was made in 1870, was taken sometime between 5 p.m. March 31 and 3 p.m. April 7.
ROBBERY: Police are looking for two suspects who, they said, attacked a victim from behind and stole his backpack. Police said that at 3:40 p.m., the victim was in a parking lot on the 1900 block of Webster Street when the suspects attacked him. They described the suspects as black males in their late teens, one 5’8” and the other 5’10”. They said the second suspect was wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt.
Friday, April 9
DRUNK DRIVING ARREST: Police arrested Denise Thomas, 55, of Alameda, on a drunk driving charge. Police said they contacted Thomas at the scene of a traffic collision and that she displayed objective signs of alcohol intoxication and that she failed to perform field sobriety tests as directed. They said they arrested Thomas at 10:02 p.m.
Stolen bicycles: Red 2006 Mongoose 24”mountain bike, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., from the 2200 block of Southshore Center.
Stolen autos: Black 2000 Yamaha R6 motorcycle, between 6:40 a.m. April 2 and noon today, from the 400 block of Yorkshire Road.
Saturday, April 10
GRAND THEFT: Police are looking for the person or persons who, they said, broke into an elderly woman’s car and stole her purse. Police said the alleged crime took place between 4:30 p.m. April 9 and 6:15 a.m. today on the 2000 block of Santa Clara Avenue. Police said the purse and its contents were worth $1,460.
Stolen autos: Blue 2003 Toyota Camry, between 6:30 a.m. April 9 and 6:30 p.m. today, from the 3100 block of Mecartney Road.
Stolen bicycles: Yellow 2007 Mongoose BMX 20” bike, between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. April 9.
Sunday, April 11
BATTERY ARREST: Police arrested Ethan Jarrett Andrew Kent, 23, no address given, on battery and intoxication charges. Police said Kent was contacted on a disturbance call and that he showed signs of intoxication. They said Kent was also identified as the person responsible for a battery with great bodily injury. He was arrested at 2:24 a.m. on the 900 block of Park Street and transported to Alameda City Jail.
DRUNK DRIVING ARREST: Police arrested Sonja Evelyn Rabe, 50, of Alameda, on a drunk driving charge. Police said they contacted Rabe at the scene of an accident and that she showed signs of intoxication and was unable to complete a series of field sobriety tests as instructed. She was arrested at 9:53 a.m. on the 3000 block of Bayview Drive and transported to Alameda City Jail.
BURGLARY: Police are looking for the person or persons who, they said, broke into a person’s garage and stole a motorized scooter valued at $250. Police said that sometime between 3 p.m. April 10 and 9 a.m. today, someone forced open the door of a detached garage on the 2800 block of San Jose Avenue and stole the scooter.
LASER THEFT: Police are looking for the person or persons who, they said, broke into a car parked on the 1100 block of Ballena Boulevard and stole a laser valued at $3,500. Police said that sometime between 8 a.m. April 8 and 9 a.m. today, someone broke the rear passenger window of the victim’s vehicle, took the laser and left.
DRUNK DRIVING ARREST: Police arrested Cynthia Lynn Meek, 40, of Alameda, on a drunk driving charge. Police said Meek was involved in a traffic accident on Park Street just north of Central Avenue and that she was found to display signs of intoxication and was not able to perform field sobriety tests as instructed. She was arrested at 12:01 a.m. and transported to Alameda City Jail.
