Fly the friendly skies!
Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to fly somewhere for just ten bucks? (Even your luggage can’t fly for that price.) Well, you can take a crack at a pair of tickets on Southwest Airlines and help out an ohsoworthy cause at the same time.
Alameda County Meals on Wheels (the umbrella organization for six local Meals on Wheels programs, including our own here on the Island) will be raffling off a pair of tickets to go anywhere Southwest flies on April 27. The cost to enter the raffle is $10, or six tickets for $50. You can enter the raffle by clicking here and downloading the entry form. And you need not be present to win.
The raffle benefits Meals on Wheels, which provides hot meals to seniors and other homebound folks on a sliding fee scale. (And did I mention there’s no blackout dates on those tickets?) And if you can’t choose a friend to travel with you, maybe you can book a cheap seat for that suitcase.
Incidentally, Meals on Wheels is also hosting its Five Star Night benefit on April 23 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension in Oakland. The event is emceed by local celebrity chef Narsai David and features food from a host of Oakland restaurants, wine, dancing and more. Full scoop on that right here.
