Police are looking for a man who they believe is responsible for three East Bay bank robberies, including one last Friday at a Citibank branch here in Alameda.

Police said that at 1:43 p.m. last Friday, a man entered the Citibank branch at 2420 Santa Clara Avenue and demanded money from a bank teller. The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash and he fled on foot, police said. They said no weapon was used and no one was injured.

They said they believe the same man is responsible for a March 1 robbery at a Chase bank branch in Walnut Creek and another robbery this past Monday at a Chase bank in Livermore. Police said the suspect used the same method of operation in each of the three robberies and that he may be responsible for additional robberies in the Bay Area.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old, 5’8” to 6’ tall and about 200 pounds, with bushy eyebrows, a goatee-style mustache and a beard that extends from ear to ear.

The case is being investigated by Alameda, Livermore and Walnut Creek Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. If you know the identity of the suspect or have information for police, Alameda police are asking you to contact either the FBI, at (415) 553-7400 (24 hour number) or Alameda Police Detective Hank Morten at 337-8351.
