Coffee with the Chief

Got a burning issue about crime or law enforcement here in Alameda? Well, here’s your chance to take it straight to the top. Police Chief Walt Tibbet is hosting another of his Coffee with the Chief events from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. this Saturday, March 6 at Golden Pin Donuts, 1353 Park Street. And it’s free and open to the public.

Tibbet – who called us personally Friday to let us know the event was coming up – said he’ll be there with other members of the department staff and a local beat officer. And while there, he said participants can “talk about any issue they have.”

The event is the latest in a series Tibbet started in 2009. If you’ve got any questions, you can give Tibbet’s office a call, at 337-8300.

I like Chief Tibbet’s approach and his efforts to be accessible in events like these coffees.
I think more City staff should follow his lead and be out in the community often like this.
