free-vintage-valentine-card-sock-with-red-heartIt’s that time of year again: Valentine’s Day is Sunday. And if you’re spending the long President’s Day weekend here, there’s a few things you can do locally to celebrate.

Rhythmix Cultural Works kicks things off with two events. Tonight they’ve got their monthly 3 Ring Bingo with a romantic twist. Doors for Sweetheart Bingo open at 7 p.m. and the event starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for 10 games and a drink, and are available online and at the door. Then on Friday, February 12, a reception for Seeing Red: Explorations on the Other Side of Love, which features the work of 10 Bay Area artists, takes place in the K Gallery. The exhibit is up through February 28. Rhythmix is at 2513 Blanding Avenue, and their phone number is 865-5060.

Rock Wall Wine Company’s got Chocolate Kisses and Bubble Dreams, a release of the winery’s new sparkling wines. That’ll take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 13. The event will include food, gift baskets, live music and artisan chocolates. Tickets are $20 in advance and available online, or $25 at the door. Rock Wall is at 2301 Monarch Street, and their phone number is 522-5700.

The big event’s over at the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex, which is hosting Valentine’s Rock, featuring live music from The Sun Kings, wine and appetizers, at 8 p.m. Saturday, February 13. Tickets for the event are $55 in advance, $65 at the door, and are available at the theater box office and online. The event is a benefit for Haiti relief, the Alameda Hospital Foundation and the Boys & Girls Club of Alameda. The theater is at 2317 Central Avenue.

A few other things of note: Pappo is hosting a special Valentine’s Day dinner, so if you’re interested in finding out more about that, check out their website … and the folks over at Farmstead Cheeses & Wines in the Marketplace are advertising heart-shaped cheeses. Awww.
