Roseblum celebrates safety, donates to charity
The folks out at Rosenblum Cellars celebrated 500 safe workdays on February 18 with a barbecue and donations to a series of charities.
Starting in September 2009, the winery’s 35 employees were invited to vote for their favorite charity at the beginning of each month. If they get through the month without a single lost-time injury, Rosenblum donates $500 to that charity. So far, the winery has donated $2,500 to charities including the American Cancer Society, the Boys & Girls Club of Alameda, the East Bay SPCA, the Special Olympics of Northern California and the Alameda Food Bank. February’s recipient will be Children’s Hospital in Oakland.
The winery’s previous safety record was 183 days without an injury. The 500 day record, which they reached on February 8, translates to 140,000 hours without an injury.
