Planning priorities pondered
The Planning Board will get a presentation on planning staff work priorities for the coming year at their meeting tonight. Planning staff say they are looking for feedback from the board on the priorities in light of last year’s staff and other cuts.
“Given these reductions, there is an on-going need to evaluate projects and demands on staff time and amend priorities and adjust the allocation of resources,” the staff report, signed by Planning Services Manager Jon Biggs, says.
Work in progress includes a climate protection element for the city’s general plan and a green building code that would include a ban on wood burning fireplaces in new construction; amendments to the city’s historic preservation ordinance that would include penalties and also procedures for review of alterations; and a master plan for the city’s civic core.
Not yet scheduled: Amending the city’s work-live ordinance to expand the area where work-live units can exist and design guidelines for the waterfront, small-lot residential development and more.
Monday’s meeting will also include a report on the city’s code enforcement program.
The Planning Board meets at 7 p.m. today at City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue. A full agenda for the meeting is here.
