Miss Alameda Jessica Robinson announced Saturday that she is planning another run at the Miss California USA 2011 title.
“I’m hoping to win Miss California USA because I want to raise public awareness about important issues that I care about – a better environment, social justice and improving education and the environment for children,” Robinson said during a press briefing at Area 51 Event Productions at Alameda Point.
Robinson, 25, is working to secure sponsors to help her raise $15,000 for the pageant, which will is set to take place in November. So far, she’s got a dozen sponsors.
“A sponsorship pledge for Miss Alameda really means supporting a better environment and better education for our families,” Robinson said.
Kevin Good of Sun’s Free Solar, a local company that is sponsoring Robinson, said he was skeptical at first about her commitment to the environment. But he said a talk with Robinson convinced him it’s real.
“We’re pretty excited to be sponsoring (her),” Good said.
Robinson is holding a fundraiser on March 27 at Rock Wall Wine Company that will include live entertainment; an auction featuring the gown and bathing suit she wore in the 2010 competition plus Robinson’s art; raffle prizes; and more. Stay tuned for more details on that.
Robinson participated in last year’s competition in Palm Springs. She is a ballet dancer, actor, art promoter and model.
