This is it, folks: Election Day for Measure B, the SunCal-sponsored development plan for Alameda Point. Voters will be casting their ballots on a Measure A exemption, a land plan for the Point and a development agreement that will be inked between SunCal and the city if B passes (though even SunCal is saying now that it’s going to fail).
If you’re looking for information and opinions on B before casting your ballot, I’ve got all the links you need (including The Island’s own sort of mostly updated Alameda Point page and a separate link to all our coverage on the Point). The full text of the ballot measure is here. You can find your polling place here. And video of the League of Women Voters forum on Measure B is on the brand-new Alameda Currents website.
And if you want to know how I feel about it … well, that’s here.
Meanwhile, keep checking back tonight and Wednesday morning for election results and continuing coverage.
And before I forget, a few last-minute news tidbits on the measure: Thanks to Croll’s Pizza owner Lorenzo Puertas for checking in to let you all know that he’s offering a free slice of pizza and a soda to anyone who shows up on election day in their “Future Alamedan” costume. He’s trying to leaven the situation a bit by offering a baloney-covered pizza and a newsletter, the Alameda Future Chronicles.
And one other note: City Clerk Lara Weisiger has posted a whole spate of new campaign finance filings online. Looks like SunCal has spent $1.26 million on their Measure B campaign to date, while the unions have kicked in about 29 grand to pay for, among other things, local elected officials’ anti-B mailers.
