School district to replace chief financial officer
Vital said she couldn’t comment on Guzman’s departure because it is a personnel matter. But she said that she has a candidate to replace Guzman who she will present to the school board for their approval on Tuesday.
Guzman had just started with the district this school year, after working as chief financial officer for the Ravenswood School District in East Palo Alto. He was the district’s third CFO in as many years, joining the district when Tim Rahill left after one year.
District officials are grappling with systemic deficits which they have blamed on a series of multi-million-dollar state budget cuts. The district is currently working on both a new parcel tax to replace and enhance its existing parcel taxes and also plans to make drastic cuts if the money officials say they need to maintain the Island’s public school services doesn’t come through.
