Meditate on it
Looking to maintain that fresh, relaxed feeling that comes along with the start of a new year? Well, the folks over at Alameda Yoga Station have just the thing. They offer a free Alameda Sangha meditation group from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each and every Sunday. And starting this Sunday, it’ll be led by a new teacher, Pauletta M. Chanco.
Chanco has taught at Alameda Yoga Station since 2007 and is a long-time student and practitioner of meditation in the Theravada Buddhist tradition. She was recently nominated to the Community Dharma Leadership Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, a gig she hopes to begin in 2012, the Yoga Station folks said.
No pre-registration is required for the group, and did I mention it’s free? (Though donations will be accepted.)
“Traditionally, the opportunity to establish a meditation practice is considered priceless, so no price can be set on it,” the Yoga Station folks said. “It operates on the principal of generosity, from teacher to students and back, so that future students can also receive the benefits of learning to meditate.”
Alameda Yoga Station is at 2414-A Central Avenue, and their phone number is 523-9642.
