If you’ve glanced at the headline on this post, you already know what I’m going to say, right? If not, let me break it down: New Year’s. Island. Stuff happening.

First up: The Alameda Theatre & Cineplex is hosting a Vegas New Year’s Eve with the Rat Pack on December 31. Doors open at 8 p.m. The benefit event includes a performance by the 17-piece Starduster Orchestra plus a casino, dancing, wine, food, a raffle, balloon drop and more. Tickets for the 21-and-over event are $75 for general admission, $125 VIP in advance, $85 and $140 at the door. Tickets and information are available on the theater’s website. The theater is at 2317 Central Avenue, and their phone number is 769-3456.

Across the Island, the USS Hornet is hosting its annual New Year’s Eve party from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday, December 31. The party features music from 3 O’Clock Jump and the Singing Blue Stars, three dance floors, dance lessons, food and drink and a silent auction. And period attire is welcomed. Tickets are $48, and they’re available online or by calling 521-8448 x282. Proceeds benefit the Hornet, which is at 707 West Hornet Avenue, Pier 3, on Alameda Point.

A number of restaurants are also planning special New Year’s Eve dinners. From what I’ve gathered, special New Year’s dinners can be had at Pappo, C’era Una Volta, Pier 29, Asena and Angela’s Bistro & Bar. The folks at The Hob Nob will have music and dancing, as will Speisekammer. If you’re interested, you can click over to their websites or give ’em a call for the details.
