Can you believe it’s that-time-of-the-year already? Snuck up on me, too. Our annual production royale of “The Nutcracker” is this Saturday and Sunday at Kofman Auditorium, 2200 Central Avenue. Performances are at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, and the Sugar Plum Party follows Sunday’s performance.
Tickets are $17-$27, plus $5 for the Sugar Plum Party if you plan to attend, and you can get those online or by calling (800) 838-3006. Chances are good that if you go, you’ll see someone you know on stage (or one of their kids). Or you can check out the fantastic professional talent they bring to the stage to headline the show each year.
Meanwhile, Rhythmix Cultural Works and Frank Bette Center for the Arts are teaming up to put on a Holiday Bash that starts at 6 p.m. Saturday. The bash, a fundraiser for both places, features music, poetry and storytelling, and they’ll have a holiday gift boutique and face painting, too. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door, and are available online or by calling Frank Bette, at 523-6957, or Rhythmix, at 865-5060. Rhythmix is at 2513 Blanding Avenue.
