Get ready to ring in the new year … with a series of late-night closures in the Webster and Posey tubes!

The fun begins at 9:30 p.m. today, when the Webster Tube will be closed for washing. It reopens at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. That same closure schedule is slated to be in effect on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the cleanup job scheduled for completion at 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Then on January 4, the job resumes in the Posey Tube (that’s the one leaving the Island) at 9:30 p.m., with the tube reopening at 4:30 a.m. January 5. The cleaning will take place during the same hours on January 5 and 6, with that job to be completed on January 7.

If you happen to be traveling off-Island during those hours, be sure to take another route home. In the meantime, get ready for a sparkly, clean Tube ride … for a few hours, anyway. In the meantime, if you’ve got questions, call Caltrans’ Edward Coppin, acting superintendent of tunnels and tubes, at 286-0315.
