Marin Catholic bests Encinal for NCS title
The Encinal Jets football team (#1) lost its bid to again capture the North Coast Sectional Division III championship this year, after being shut out 27-0 by the second-seeded Marin Catholic on Friday night.
The Jets had made it to the championship after beating twelfth-seeded Miramonte, 48-32, at home on December 4.
“They played a great game,” Encinal coach Joe Tenorio told the Oakland Tribune’s Jimmy Durkin after the tough loss. “It was more about how they played than how bad we played. I’ve got to give them their credit. They kicked our (butts).”
Encinal won the NCS title in 2008.
