Looking for things to do with the kids this winter break? If you’ve got little ones, you don’t need to look any further than Crab Cove, which has got a host of low-cost nature programs to help fill all those extra hours over the next two weeks.

The ‘Cove’s Sea Siblings program, for preschoolers and their younger siblings, has hour-long activities at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. today (“Slippery Slime”), Wednesday (“Animal House”), December 29 (“For the Birds”) and December 31 (“Rainbow Fish”).  The fee is $4.

They’ve also got programs for preschoolers only (ages 3-5) and for kids ages 6-8. The preschool Sea Squirts programs are from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the Estuary Explorers, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., on Tuesday (“Slippery Slime), December 28 (“Animal House”) and December 30 (“For the Birds”). The fee for the Sea Squirts and Estuary Explorers programs is $6, $8 for nonresidents.

The visitor center is at 1252 McKay Avenue, off Central. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday (and it too is a good place to burn an hour with the little ones).

I know at least a few places are doing camps this break, including Bladium and Rhythmix (which has Holiday Art and sewing camps listed on their website for today through Wednesday). If you know about any other fun, local activities for kids, feel free to drop us a line in the comments section.
