FRAUD: Police are looking for the person or persons who stole the credit card information of a local soldier while he was stationed in Iraq and used it to make purchases. Police said the crime occurred sometime between August 27 and November 8. They said the soldier was living in Alameda until August 27, when he was sent to Iraq. They said his mail was being forwarded there. Police did not say how much the purchases were for.

ARSON: Police are investigating an apparent arson in an uninhabited apartment building in the 2300 block of Orion Street on Alameda Point. Police said someone intentionally set fire to the front door of the uninhabited building at around 8:40 p.m., and that firefighters quickly had the small fire out.

Stolen bicycles: Black 1968 Schwinn 26″ Cruiser, with large whitewall tires, 400 block of Southshore Center, between 8:10 p.m. and 8:18 p.m. today.

Stolen autos: Gray 1981 Buick CP, 900 block of Lincoln Avenue, between 10 a.m. November 6 and 1 p.m. November 8.

Stolen bicycles: Blue and white 2009 Diamondback hybrid 21-speed, from the 2200 block of Otis Drive, between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

GRAND THEFT: Police arrested Jorge Jensen Baribar, 46, of Benicia, on charges he stole and deposited checks from his employer valued at more than $380,000 and deposited them over a three-year period. Police said Baribar deposited the checks into two separate accounts while an employee of Bobac CFS, a local trucking and warehousing company. The company starting looking at its books in July after Baribar admitted to taking checks worth $1,200, police said. Police asked Baribar, a citizen of Peru, to turn over his passport and they booked him into Alameda City Jail on $1.83 million bail.

DRUNK DRIVING: Police arrested John Derrick Williams, 51, of San Leandro on a drunk driving charge. Police said they believe Williams hit parked cars on Buena Vista Avenue, Wood Street and St. Charles Street, shortly before 7:30 a.m. They said they arrested him in the 1700 block of Sherman Street after he showed signs of intoxication and was unable to satisfactorily complete field sobriety tests as instructed. Police said he was booked into Alameda City Jail.

ANNOYING PHONE CALL: Police are looking for the person who left a Lincoln Avenue resident a phone message saying he was going to harm her toddler. Police said the woman received the message when she turned her phone on, at 8:25 a.m.

BURGLARY: Police are looking for a suspect who stole a woman’s purse from her Central Avenue apartment while the woman was putting items in her vehicle to move. Police said the woman and a neighbor were carrying a large, potted plant to her vehicle when the crime occurred, sometime between 8:05 p.m. and 8:10 p.m.

Stolen bicycles: Yellow and black 2008 Sidewind 21-speed, 21″ mountain bike, from the 1600 block of Park Street, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

THEFT: Someone stole an Eritrean passport from a Taylor Avenue resident. The passport was taken from its envelope sometime between noon on October 22 and noon on October 24.

BURGLARY: Police are looking for the person or persons who broke into a Central Avenue resident’s garage. Police said the suspect left without taking anything. The burglary occurred sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. at a home on the 2700 block of Central.

Stolen bicycles: Chrome Litespeed Solano men’s 30-speed and Triple black Specialized Ruby Expert women’s 30-speed with carbon frame, 600 block of Santa Clara Avenue, between 9:30 p.m. November 11 and 7:30 am. today.

Black Wahoo 18″ mountain bike with basket on back and small black vinyl pouch on handlebars, from the 2200 block of Encinal Avenue, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. November 10.

GRAND THEFT: Police are looking for the person or persons who stole a printer, CDs and a coin worth $1,703 from a vehicle parked in the 1800 block of Eighth Street. Police said the vehicle’s window was smashed and the items taken sometime between midnight on November 12 and 11 a.m. today.

THEFT: Police are looking for the person or persons who stole a local resident’s credit/debit card out of their mailbox and was somehow able to activate it and use it to make $1,189.50 in purchases. Police said the crime occurred sometime between November 6 and today.

BRANDISHING: Police are looking for a driver who reportedly brandished a knife at another driver during an apparent road rage incident. Police said a local resident was driving south on Webster Street when the driver of a silver 2007 Suzuki SUV attempted to pass him. The drivers got into a verbal argument, at 3:50 p.m. Police said the second driver followed the first one to his Haight Street home and brandished a knife at the victim. Police described the suspect as a white male between the ages of 25 and 30, of average height and heavy, with short, black hair.

TRESPASSING: Police are looking for two suspects who they said were trespassing at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Buena Vista Avenue. Police said the suspect was spotted removing the screen on a vacant unit and attempting to open the window at about 9:20 p.m. but that they fled before police arrived.

Stolen autos: Black 1993 Nissan pickup truck with lumber rack in bed and spray-in bed liner, 1700 block of Minturn Street, between 7:30 p.m. November 12 and 5 a.m. today.

BURGLARY: Police are looking for two suspects who allegedly stole fur jackets and jewelry worth $6,000 from a home in the 1200 block of Central Avenue. Police said the items were taken sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. They said the suspects were driving a gold-colored Honda. The first suspect is described as a 25-year-old Hispanic female, 5’6″, 140 lbs., with brown hair. She was reportedly wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. A second suspect was listed but not described.

Stolen autos: White 1992 Honda, 1900 block of Park Street, between 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. today.

Black 1994 Honda Del Sol, with white 15″ rims in front and gold 17″ rims in back, in the 1300 block of Pearl Street, between 9 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. today.

DRUNK DRIVING: Police arrested John Seiji Towata Jr., 62, of Oakland on a drunk driving charge. Police said Towata struck a parked car as he traveled south on Eighth Street and that he had the odor of alcohol on his breath and was unsteady on his feet. Police said he was arrested after they conducted a field sobriety test and booked. He was arrested in the 1400 block of Eighth Street shortly after 7 p.m.

Stolen autos: White 1989 Toyota Camry four door, 300 block of Broadway, between 10 a.m. November 14 and 9 p.m. today.

Stolen bicycles: Pink 2004 Simple 32″ single-speed beach cruiser with white seat, from the 1500 block of Fountain Street, between 4 p.m. November 14 and 8 a.m. today.

White men’s Peugot cruiser, with Blackburn rear rack and orange tape around frame, 2300 block of San Jose Avenue, between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
