We’ve got Coastal, Kidical pix!
This past Saturday was a busy one for folks here on the Island, who had a whole lot of events to choose from to fill their time. And I’ve got pictures, to the lower right of your screen (scroll down).
Dozens of people rounded up their students, families and scout troops and braved the sand fleas and the rather strong aroma of rotting seaweed to clean up the shoreline as part of this year’s Coastal Cleanup. For their efforts, they were rewarded with an after-party at Alameda Towne Centre that had music, face painting and more.
Another group of folks participated in the Kidical Mass family bike ride, which started across the way from the beach. Ride organizers BikeAlameda had a slalom course set up for the kids and helmet fittings, and George from Alameda Bicycle was on hand to offer free bike tune-ups.
Walk a Mile for Literacy was also taking place Saturday, just around the bend on Park Street. (Anybody have pictures of that? I’d be glad to post ’em if you do.)
And last but not least, it was Rosh Hashanah. If you celebrated, L’shana Tovah to you!
