Slow Food potluck Monday
Looking for something to do on your Labor Day holiday? Slow Food Alameda is hosting a potluck picnic in Franklin Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday as part of a National Eat-In Potluck.
The national event, which is being put on by Slow Food USA, is part of an effort to bring higher quality food to the nation’s schools. Improving the quality of school chow is Slow Food USA’s focus for 2009, as Congress debates the Child Nutrition Act, which will spell out what kind of food is served in schools.
Participants in the local event are asked to bring food to share and beverages that are “Good, Clean and Fair” plus chairs or a blanket to sit on and utensils for your family or group.
