Firefighters fundraise with football tickets
If you love Raiders football and are looking for the chance to support a great cause, Alameda’s firefighters have got something for you. They’ve put together ticket packages for the Raiders’ November 15 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Packages range from $50 to $85, depending on the seating location you choose, and their include a ticket, a Raider hat, and a food voucher good for a hot dog, a bag of chips and a soda at the game. Fourteen dollars from each package you buy supports Alameda’s Meals on Wheels.
Tickets must be purchased in person or by mail through the Alameda Firefighters, Local 689. Orders will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, and need to be in by October 16. The tickets are non-refundable.
Checks must be made out to Alameda Firefighters, Local 689, and mailed or delivered to Alameda Firefighters, Local 689, 635 Pacific Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501. And if you don’t plan on attending the game but would still like to make a donation to Meals on Wheels, you can send a check to the firefighters, care of “Meals on Wheels benefit.”
Kickoff is at 1:05 p.m.
Alameda’s Meals on Wheels has been helping housebound seniors and others since 1973. The organization delivers hot, midday meals to more than 140 Island residents a day who need assistance due to a recent surgery or hospitalization or because they can’t shop or cook for themselves. Subscribers pay on a sliding fee scale based on ability.
