Bus service meeting is Saturday

4-300x198Just wanted to drop you all a quick note to remind you all that AC Transit is hosting a meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 12 (aka tomorrow) to discuss proposed service cuts they could enact to help them close a big, fat budget deficit. The meeting is at Independence Plaza, which is at 703 Atlantic Avenue.

Some folks in the West End are concerned the changes could hurt seniors, students and low-income residents (while others say the changes could improve service to folks out at the Alameda Point Collaborative and that the cuts being made will happen in lower-ridership areas).

Local blogger and transit guru John Knox White, who put together a series of posts (with handy flash maps) on this in July, said the East End could also see impacts under AC Transit’s reduction plan.

For a full rundown on the changes, you can also check out this city staff report. (Oh, and while you’re down there, you can check out the Webster Street Jam, which is Saturday and Sunday.)
