Bay Bridge closed ’til Wednesday
In the (highly unlikely, I know) event you hadn’t heard: The Bay Bridge is now going to be closed until 5 a.m. Wednesday.
The bridge was supposed to be closed until Tuesday morning so work crews could remove a 300-foot section of the East Span to put a detour in place so the new, permanent span can be completed. Apparently, crews found a cracked steel “eyebar” link in the span (which I had to go to the Chronicle to decipher, is it bad of me to say I hate Twitter?) and they are racing to fix it.
Transit agencies that had offered increased service during the bridge closure will continue to do so. To figure out how you’re going to get to work on Tuesday, click on 511.org. And if you want all the Twitter and video updates, the official Bay Bridge closure site is here.
