Altarena’s “The Nerd” opens tonight
The play, which is written by Larry Shue and directed by Richard Robert Bunker, is about a young architect coping with the arrival of a deeply socially challenged houseguest – a man who once saved the architect’s life.
Featured performers are Timothy Beagley, Judy Beall, Matthew Beall, Noah Han, Misha Madison, Jillian Seagrave and Christopher Ciabattoni; Bunker, the director, also directed Altarena’s sold-out run of Shue’s “The Foreigner” in 2006. (And here’s a little trivia for you: the Broadway version of the show, which ran for 441 performances between 1987-88, starred Mark Hamill.)
Shows are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays (and tonight’s show is sold out). Tickets are $20, $17 for students and seniors and are available online or by calling 523-1553, or at the door. Altarena is at 1409 High Street.
Oh, and by the way, Altarena is looking for some artistic staff for their 2010 season. They need a technical director, stage manager and a property manager, as well as a director for their upcoming production of “Bus Stop.” The positions come with a stipend that will be negotiated depending on experience. To apply, send your resume or other description of your experience to email@example.com.
