Gaslight Emporium downsizing
The folks at Gaslight Emporium, the Island’s premiere Halloween outfitter, are having a huge sale this week. But that’s because they are downsizing and moving into their little candy shop next door.
Owner Tommie Veirs said that desire to spend more time with her grandkids, plus the bad economy and high rent, prompted the move from the Gaslight’s current spot, at 1712 Lincoln Avenue. But their new home has a lot less space, so she said they’ll no longer be selling Halloween costumes and masks.
That means they need to unload about 50 boxes of merchandise, including Halloween and Christmas items, Veirs said. So they’ll hold a sale until it’s all gone.
Veirs held a preview sale for loyal customers over the weekend. And on Tuesday, she’ll open her doors to the general public. The shop hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 on Sunday.
Veirs said she plans to have a grand opening in the candy shop in September. Until then, you can catch the Gaslight at its current location. Their phone number, by the way, is 522-1900.
