CASA hosts climate change talk
The folks from Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda are hosting a 90-minute talk titled “Climate Change: What is it and what can you do about it in Alameda?” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 18 in the social hall at First Congregational Church, 1912 Central Avenue. The event is free and open to the public.
Srikant Subramaniam will discuss the science of climate change, global impacts and the imperative to change the production and use of energy. Subramaniam is one of 1,000 people trained by Vice President Al Gore to spread the word about climate change and he’s spent the last three years volunteering for Gore’s Climate Project.
Then CASA’s Joyce Mercado will break it down to the local level by offering practical tips for greening your life. She’s put together a global warming checklist and resource list.
