Restaurant health inspection list online

Last week the Oakland Tribune’s Angela Woodall, aka the Night Owl, posted a link for the county department of environmental health’s restaurant inspection database.

Woodall said she was like a teenager with a PlayStation, spending days flipping through more than 2,000 listings (I feel ya, Angela). Alameda’s got 343 places listed in the database, from the high schools and Alameda Hospital (perfect score last time out) on up through the Island’s swankiest eateries (or as swanky as we get here in Alameda).

Woodall said the county is considering a color-coded card system to alert diners to conditions in the restaurants they select (personally, I’m a fan of the scorecards some counties employ). In any event, it’s something to check out before you head out for a bite.
