UPDATED Turtle found

111Updated 12:14 p.m. Friday, June 19

Sounds like the lost turtle I wrote about this morning has been found. I just spoke with the owner, who said that the turtle, who she calls Baby Turtle, reappeared in her yard.

The turtle was one of four the owner (she’s commented as SY below) has in a pond in the yard. The turtle, a red-eared slider, somehow managed to escape the pond’s 10-inch-high enclosure.

When the turtle went missing, the owner posted these signs (left) on Lincoln Avenue between Chestnut and Lafayette.

Red-eared sliders are commonly kept as pets, and can survive for as long as 35 years, according to this entry on Wikipedia. They earned their name from their distinctive red stripe on the side of their head.

Happy weekend, everybody!

    My baby is finally home!
It’s so great to know that our neighbors care for each other and are aware of things that happen in the neighborhood.
    Thanks Michele!
