Alameda parade update: Convertibles needed
I had just finished posting on our upcoming Mayor’s Fourth of July Parade when I saw this item on KCBS’s website saying parade organizers were on the hunt for convertibles for politicians and VIPs to ride in.
Seems that the parade’s organizers had relied on local car dealerships to help secure the rides for the fourth festivities. Trouble is, Alameda doesn’t have any car dealerships anymore.
“We had used the car dealerships to help us with convertibles to put our V.I.P.’s in for the parade. … Well, they’re all gone now so we can’t use them to have convertibles for our parade,” parade chairwoman Barbara Price told KCBS.
I guess they’ve got about two dozen convertibles now and they need 40. (Maybe they can check in with the folks who operate the classic car shows behind La Val’s at Harbor Bay?) Anyway, if you’ve got a convertible to lend, give Price a shout at 633-9550 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
